It was speculated that BRM would participate in the event, with Parnell as a pilot. With BRM’s withdrawal, Parnell was confirmed as a driver for Vandervell’s Ferrari 26, and Shawe-Taylor remained as a reserve driver, having participated in the first day of practice. Piero Taruffi only participated in the first day of practice and abandoned the event because he was sick, being replaced by González, who was available because he would race for Scuderia Milan, who ended up opting for Marimon. There was a reservation for a fourth Ferrari entry, which did not materialize. |

After Ascari retired with his Ferrari #12, he took over the wheel of Froilán González’s Ferrari #14. Both shared the 2nd place points. Fangio had problems with his Alfa #4 and switched cars with Luigi Fagioli, taking the Alfa #8 to victory, with points shared between them. |
