McLaren had two entries but withdrew at the last minute, with engine problems. With the forfeit, Amon raced with a private Brabham leased from MGM Studios and Bruce’s entry went to Phil Hill with an Eagle. Ireland, Gardner and Taylor did not attend. Clark and Geki were entered respectively with #20 and #22, they used them in practice, but reversed for the race. MGM needed a car with #32 in race, in order to use it for filming, but as Amon did not qualify, Spence (who used #42 in practice) used that number in race. Baghetti broke the gearbox on the car that Parnell had lent him, so Ferrari team manager Dragoni arranged to lend Parnell a Ferrari 246 for him to drive. |
