With the death of Bruce McLaren in a private practice with a Can Am car a few days before the Belgian race, McLaren withdrew their entries, and therefore Gethin and De Adamich did not participate. Eaton and Moser did not attend the event, and Tyrrell’s second entry was not confirmed, as Servoz-Gavin decided to withdraw from competition. Surtees withdrew due to the lack of available engines.
