Mercedes initially intended to enter Fangio, Kling and Moss, in that order, with Herrmann and Uhlenhaut as reserves. As Kling had been injured in another race, he was replaced by Herrmann. With Herrmann’s accident in the preliminaries, André Simon, who was initially registered with the #16 Maserati, ended up replacing him and participated with the #4 Mercedes. Ken Wharton was injured in a previous race and did not participate. |
